Jasprit Bumrah has revealed the reason behind the India bowling lineup dismantling South Africa at Newlands. With India’s cricket team ahead in the IND vs SA 2nd Test before the start of Day 2, the pace bowler gave an insight into how the Indian bowlers managed to dismiss the Proteas for just 55.
Jasprit Bumrah revealed that he didn’t expect the pitch to do so much on the first day. He further expanded that he and the management have belief in their bowling lineup despite having inexperienced Mukesh Kumar and Prasidh Krishna on their side.
“When we saw the wicket in the morning, we didn’t expect that it’s going to be an action-packed day like how it was. It’s always fun for a bowler that you are always in play; anything can happen anytime. If you bowled disciplined lines, there’s a lot in the wicket. Interesting day of cricket. We have a lot of belief in our bowling line-up, but a lot of the bowlers are new. The discussion was about consistency and bowling in partnership.“
On how to get a wicket on such a surface, Jasprit Bumrah said:
“We have to create pressure; you don’t necessarily need to bowl magic deliveries now and then. You just have to do the basic things tight again and again. We were very happy that we were able to do that in this game.“
