Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions were the last IPL teams to be defunct. Both had come into existence after the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals were banned from the league for two years (2016 and 2017), and once they were reinstated in 2018, both were disbanded.
