3 RTM card targets for RCB in IPL 2025 mega auction

Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction, let's examine the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) auction strategy.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) boasts the highest number of followers among IPL teams, yet they have yet to secure an IPL title. Despite being led by India’s biggest star batter, Virat Kohli, the team is still in search of their first championship. RCB has struggled with poor auction decisions in the past, often overpaying for players who didn’t deliver on their investment. As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, RCB needs a robust strategy to select players who can make a significant impact. Ahead of the IPL mega auction, these three players could be strong RTM (Right to Match) card options if they are not retained before the auction.

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell was purchased at the price of 14.25 crores in the IPL 2021 auction. In the previous season, he has a dismal run in the tournament. He scored only 52 runs in 10 innings of the tournament. Therefore, franchise may think to release him and rebuy at losser price in the Auction table. Maxwell is a match-winner and therefore RCB would not like to get him go but the price in high for him, acccording to his previous performance.

RCB had paid 11.50 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, but it was not worth since he played only three games. RCB should retain him but let a lower price as they can use RTM on him in the auction.

Caremon Green

Caremon Green was a trade from Mumbai Indians from RCB in the IPL 2024. He was signed by RCB for Rs 17.5 crore. It is mostly surtain that RCB will not retain him for that much money. Even if they wants to retain him it would be through RTM card in the IPL auction.
