Ruturaj Gaikwad
The new CSK skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, has performed wonders with his bat and his captaincy skills in the current IPL. If we look at the overall IPL 2024 to date, he is surely the most valuable player for the CSK team. Looking at his stats as a batter, he has scored 541 runs in just 11 matches with a strike rate of 147.01. As mentioned, as captain as well, he is performing really well leading the CSK camp to date. The team is well seated in the 4th spot with 6 wins in 11 games.
Matheesha Pathirana
This 22-year-old Sri Lankan pacer has impressed a lot in this IPL 2024. Though unfortunately, he got injured after playing six games. In all six games, he impressed everyone with his Malinga-like action. Pathirana has taken 13 wickets with an amazing bowling economy of 7.68, which is unusual for any bowler who usually bowls in the batting powerplay.
Not just bowling, he contributed with his fielding as well. As there have been many occasions where we have witnessed his top-notch fielding skills. He is surely a player who shone in this IPL 2024 for the Chennai Super Kings.
Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube has surely been one player who has just blasted in this season, mostly with his bat. His batting is one of the reasons that he got preference over Rinku Singh in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Speaking about his batting, in IPL 2024, Dube has scored 350 runs in total in 11 matches with a remarkable strike rate of 170.73. Coming at the top of the order and providing a base, as well as providing finishing touches, Dube has been doing these two things consistently in this IPL.
CSK player who didn’t perform up to the expectation
CSK bought Rachin Ravindra to fulfill one need, and that is to provide an explosive start. But it looks like he has failed to do so. Surely, he gave a glimpse by hitting a few smooth shots in the matches he played, but he didn’t utilize those first 6 overs of batting and got out early.
This is the main reason he didn’t play all the matches, as he got dropped. In the seven matches he has played to date, he has scored just 133 runs in total. He is surely disappointed with his batting and has failed to fulfill all those expectations that CSK has of him. On the other hand, Deepak Chahar also failed to make an impact as a bowler, as he conceded 202 runs in 8 matches with the worst bowling average of 40.40.
