IPL 2023: Fans were treated to an unforgettable sight on Thursday when Royal Challengers Bangalore star Virat Kohli and Bollywood superstar & Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan shook legs to the tune of the popular song ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan.’ Following his team’s commanding 81-run victory, SRK went down in the center to greet each player on the field from both sides. In a video that has grown viral online, SRK is seen showing dance moves to Virat Kohli from the song in his most recent hit movie, Pathaan. Virat Kohli and Shah Rukh Khan spoke briefly before the KKR co-owner embraced Shardul Thakur, who earned the Player of the Match Award after his sensational knock of 68 in 29 balls. Shah Rukh also hugged KKR captain Nitsh Rana, congratulating him on the victory as the two-time champions returned to Eden Gardens for the first time since the IPL 2019.
Shah Rukh Khan then performed a victory lap while expressing his gratitude to the enthusiastic crowd that had flocked to the renowned Kolkata stadium to see the blockbuster match. SRK was blowing kisses to the fervent KKR supporters, who were given a victory that lifted their spirits.
Coming to the match, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis failed to build on their early contributions, as Bangalore lost their second IPL 2023 encounter by an 81-run margin. KKR, who were batting first, were 89-5 after 11.3 overs. Shardul Thakur, though, scored a fighting back knock to assist the team reach 204-7.
In respose, RCB got off to a rollicking start, scoring 42 runs in just four overs. However, the hosts could not turn back after Sunil Narine removed Virat Kohli. As Bangalore was bowled out for 123 runs, Varun Chakravarthy took four wickets, Narine took three, and debutant Suyash Sharma took two. The Knight Riders achieved their season’s first triumph with the win.
