If Steve Smith is indeed signed as Williamson’s replacement, it will be a massive boost for Gujarat Titans. Smith’s inclusion in the squad will provide much-needed stability in the middle order. He is also a seasoned campaigner, who can guide the young players in the squad.
Smith’s leadership skills have been on display during his stints as captain of the Australian national team. Under his leadership Rising Pune Super Giants made it to the final of IPL 2017. Thus he could help Hardik Pandya in the leadership role.
