Commonwealth Senior Wrestling Championships- Indian wrestlers List: Commonwealth Senior Wrestling Championships 2021 will take place at Pretoria in South Africa from 30th November to 7th December. The Wrestling Federation of India has recently released the list of 38 wrestlers that will take part in prestigious wrestling championships this month. Big names like Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Ravi Dahiya and bronze medalist Bajrang Punia are missing as they have decided to skip the event in order to make comeback next year. Indian wrestling team for Commonwealth Senior Wrestling Championships include wrestlers like Aman Gulia, Sachin Rathi, Hardeep Singh, Pooja Gehlot, Bhavika Patel, Jaspreet Kaur, Geeta Phogat and others. Aman Gulia made headlines when he won the gold medal in 57 kg category at the World Cadet Wrestling Championships in July. Sachin Rathi was the gold medalist at the Junior Asian Wrestling Championships in 2018.

Commonwealth Senior Wrestling Championships: Hardeep Singh is the three-time champion at Commonwealth Wrestling Championships and India’s first Greco-Roman wrestler to participate at Olympics in 2016.Women wrestler Pooja Gehlot was a gold medalist at 2017 Asian Junior Wrestling Championships and silver medalist at 2019 World U-23 Championships. Rising star Bhavika Patel won the bronze medal at Junior National Wrestling Championships in March. While, Jaspreet Kaur crowned as national champion in the women’s 65 kg category at the National Wrestling Championships.

The star wrestler among the India wrestling team for Commonwealth Wrestling Championships is Geeta Phogat, who made a comeback to the mat after six years. The 32-year-old won the silver medal at the National Wrestling Championships a week ago to mark her return to wrestling. Geeta Phogat will be playing her first international tournament since 2015. Haryanvi wrestler is two-time gold medalist at the Commonwealth Championships in 2009 and 2011.
