“I have worked with him for three years and I think it is time for a change now. He was a good coach and I have learnt whatever I could have learnt from him. Now it is time to have a new coach and learn new tricks from him.” explained Bajrang Punia while speaking exclusively to InsideSport.
The Wrestling Federation of India is fully supporting his star grappler when it comes to coach selection.
“I do not decide who the coach is going to be for which wrestler but Bajrang Punia is our star wrestler and we will give him a coach of his choice. He will get whatever he wants,” said Wrestling Federation of India President Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh while speaking to InsideSport.
Under the guidance of Emzarios Shako Bentindis Bajrang Punia clinched the Olympic medal and he has now flown back to his country as his contact was only till Tokyo Olympics. It has been learnt that WFI has been in advance talks with a coach from Ukraine as they were not entirely happy with Emzarios Shako Bentindis’ overall contribution towards Bajrang’s improvement in the game. But now the time has come when WFI should decide on the next wrestling coach soon as from next year there is Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Championship.
