Vinesh Phogat missing out on a medal at the Paris Olympics is not looked as a big of an issue. What’s hurting the fans more is, that the wrestler has announced her retirement after the massive heartbreak, that saw her getting disqualified despite making it to the final of the women’s 50 kg category. And ever since the announcement of this decision came, there have been contrasting reports, whether Vinesh will make a comeback or not.
Vinesh Phogat Retirement
While the fans definitely want her back on the mat, it seems like a really long shot. On different occasions, many have confirmed that she is not returning, for all the hardships she has faced. Speaking with the media, her husband Somvir Rathee maintained, even though there’s a lot of wrestling left in Vinesh, she is not going to change her decision.
“She is not returning. It is not an impulsive decision. We thought it through and discussed it multiple times,” he told The Bridge.
“I know there is a lot of wrestling left inside Vinesh and she had planned till 2032. But with no support from the federation and so much struggle to get what we deserve, I think this is the right decision. This is the best she could have done and without support, it becomes tough for us,” he said.

But this is not really along the lines of what Vinesh told the media. Upon returning to her village, she said, “Maybe, I could return to wrestling. I don’t know if I would pursue wrestling or not but the kind of courage I got today, I want to use that in the right direction. Our fight has not ended and the fight will continue and I pray to god that the truth will prevail.”
This two contrasting statements have only increased the confusion among the fans, which has only led them to speculate. And if eventually she does decide to comeback, one can be assured, that it is not going to happen anytime soon.
