Satwik-Chirag plummet to WR-5 two weeks after attaining top position in BWF rankings

The men's doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty had attained the top spot in BWF rankings after winning the Asian Games title.

The best Indian doubles pair by a mile, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty fell four spots to World No. 5 in the latest BWF rankings updated on Tuesday. This comes after Satwik-Chirag lost in the second round of the French Open 2023 last week. They lost over 7,000 points, as they were the defending champions of the tournament, and had won the French Open 2022. Satwik-Chirag have 86,211 points as of now.

Meanwhile, China’s Lian Wei Keng and Wang Chang have consolidated their spot on top of the BWF rankings in men’s doubles. Interestingly, the top five teams in the men’s doubles, are separated by only 3,000 odd points.
