PV Sindhu ropes in new coach, father Ramana reveals comeback date

PV Sindhu has been out of action since the Paris Olympics, where she lost in the pre-quarters to China's He Bing Jiao.

After a disappointing campaign at the Paris Olympics, star India shuttler PV Sindhu will finally be back in action, after a gap of two months. She will now participate at the Arctic Open Super 500 from October 8-13 in Finland, Sindhu’s father PV Ramana told Indian Express.

The shuttler who had moved to Bengaluru, to train under Prakash Padukone, and now moved back to Hyderabad and is training under Anup Sridhar. “She is back in practice at the Gachibowli stadium in Hyderabad, and will start with the Arctic Open in Finland,” Ramana said.

Meanwhile, it seems like she is going to work with Sridhar for a long period of time. “We are looking for a new coach with Agus Dwi Santoso’s contract ending. We are keen to see how a partnership with Anup Sridhar works out, and are looking at 4-5 names going forward. Anup will travel to Finland and will train her in Hyderabad in coming days,” Ramana added.

With this new partnership, and a much-deserved break, the two-time Olympic medalist would be looking to win her first title since 2022, when she had clinched the Singapore Open. She is ranked 14th in the world currently, and is not in contention for the BWF World Tour Final as well.
