Madhya Pradesh’s pole vault player, Dev Meena, makes a national record in the pole vault event at the ongoing National Games 2025 in Uttrakhand. He set the record of 5.32 meters and surpassed the previous record of 5.31 meters held by Siva Subramani since 2022. Despite this great accomplishment, Meena missed the qualification mark for the Asian Athletics Championships, which is set at 5.51 meters by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

Meena’s comes from Shilfod Kheda which is a small village in Madhya Pradesh with limited access to sports facilities. His development through the MP Athletics Academy has been crucial, offering him the necessary resources and expert coaching to excel on the national stage. His track record includes a gold medal win at the 27th Senior National Federation Championship in Bhubaneswar, where he cleared 5.10 meters, and a bronze medal at the 21st Asian Junior Athletics Championship (U-20) in Dubai, marking an international success for Madhya Pradesh in pole vaulting.
