India vs Korea hockey, Asian Champions Trophy updates: Harmanpreet takes IND to 3-1 win

India will take on Korea in their fourth fixture of the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy Hockey at 1.15 PM on Thursday.

Asian Champions Trophy Hockey: Araijeet Singh Hundal and Harmanpreet Singh opened the scoring for India in the Asian Champions Hockey trophy match. That meant India took an early 2-0 lead against the Koreans. But the latter made a comeback towards the end the of the 2nd quarter. Then in the third quarter, Harmanpreet Singh took India to 3-1 lead. The scores remained the same in the final quarter as India raced to a 3-1 win.

India will take on South Korea in their fourth fixture of the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy at 1.15 PM on Thursday. Harmanpreet Singh and co. will be eyeing to extend their unbeaten run in the tournament and further cement their place at the top of the standings. The Indian hockey team have already beaten China (3-0), Japan (5-1) and Malaysia (8-1). South Korea beat China 3-1 in their last fixture to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

India’s record at Asian Champions Trophy Hockey

India has a strong track record at the Asian Champions Trophy, having won the title four times in the tournament’s history. The team’s recent success, including back-to-back Olympic bronze medals, makes them the favorites to retain their ACT crown.

The Asian Champions Trophy is a hockey tournament that has been held annually under the aegis of the Asian Hockey Federation, since 2011. It only features the top-6 hockey-playing nations of Asia, competing in the round-robin format.  It features Asia’s top six field hockey teams competing in a round-robin format during that hockey season. India is the most successful team in this tournament’s history. India, meanwhile, is the most successful nation with four titles under their belt. 

The 2024 edition of the Asian Champions Trophy will be held in Hulunbuir, China, from September 8-17. The competing nations are — China (hosts), India, Pakistan, South Korea, Japan, and Malaysia. All the teams will play each other in the league stages, progressing to the semi-final & then final.
