India vs Malaysia Hockey, Asian Champions Trophy: IND in semis after 8-1 win

India will look to extend their dominance and win their third consecutive game as they take on Malaysia in Asian Champions Trophy

India vs Malaysia Hockey: Raj Kumar Pal opens the scoring for India in the third minute of the match. He beats four defenders in the circle, and scores on the reverse. Then the second goal came by Araijeet Singh Hundal, while the third one came from the stick of Jugraj Singh, through a PC.

The goal-scoring spree did not stop there as Harmanpreet Singh got a goal through PC, followed by another field-goal by Raj Kumar. The carnage did not stop there in the Asian Champions Trophy hockey as Raj Kumar scored a hat-trick, and then Araijeet got the seventh for India. If that was not enough, Uttam Singh too joined the party and scored for the team. And with that 8-1 win, India entered the semis of the ACT 2024.

Asian Champions Trophy Hockey: The Indian hockey team will look to continue the winning run as they take on Malaysia in their third game of the Asian Champions Trophy Hockey at 1:15 PM IST. After beating China 3-0 in the tournament opener, Harmanpreet Singh and co. further asserted their dominance, handing Japan a 5-1 defeat. India are currently on top of the standings with 6 points to their name. Malaysia are 5th on the standings, with one loss and draw each.

India’s record at Asian Champions Trophy Hockey

India has a strong track record at the Asian Champions Trophy, having won the title four times in the tournament’s history. The team’s recent success, including back-to-back Olympic bronze medals, makes them the favorites to retain their ACT crown.

About ACT

The Asian Champions Trophy is a hockey tournament that has been held annually under the aegis of the Asian Hockey Federation, since 2011. It only features the top-6 hockey-playing nations of Asia, competing in the round-robin format.  It features Asia’s top six field hockey teams competing in a round-robin format during that hockey season. India is the most successful team in this tournament’s history. India, meanwhile, is the most successful nation with four titles under their belt. 

The 2024 edition of the Asian Champions Trophy will be held in Hulunbuir, China, from September 8-17. The competing nations are — China (hosts), India, Pakistan, South Korea, Japan, and Malaysia. All the teams will play each other in the league stages, progressing to the semi-final & then final.
