As India’s athletes step into their respective arenas on Day 1 of the Paris Paralympics, the nation waits in anticipation. With the determination to surpass their previous achievements, Indian para-athletes are ready to make their mark.

Day 1 of the Paris Paralympics was fruitful for the Indian contingent. Star Indian archer Sheetal Devi delivered a personal best score of 703, securing the second spot in the Women’s Compound Open Ranking on Thursday. In para-badminton, Indian male players Sukant Kadam and Suhas Yathiraj achieved thrilling victories in their opening men’s singles SL3 matches.

India’s para-badminton star Manasi Joshi narrowly lost to Indonesian top seed Qonita Syakuroh in a deciding third game in the SL3 category. India’s Paralympics 2024 journey began with an all-India clash in para badminton, where Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan defeated Suhas Yathiraj and Palak Kohli. However, the duo of Sivarajan Solaimalai and Nithya Sre Sivan faced a loss.
