Did Francis Ngannou Earn More From Fighting Tyson Fury Than His Entire Career?

Francis Ngannou has stated that he earned more money from the Tyson Fury boxing match than he made in his entire MMA career

On October 28, Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou engaged in a historic heavyweight boxing match. The two pushed each other to the limit, with the Cameroonian knockout specialist even managing a knockdown on his way to a split decision that, regrettably, ended in his opponent’s advantage.

Though the conclusion was not what he had hoped for, ‘The Predator’ received a substantial payment for his efforts against Fury. Additionally, Francis Ngannou recently stated on the Last Stand Podcast that he made more money fighting Tyson Fury than he did during his whole MMA career.

Francis Ngannou Makes More Money By Fighting Tyson Fury

Michael Benson in a recent tweet quoting what Ngannou stated at Last Stand Podcast: “ Francis Ngannou has stated that he earned more money from the Tyson Fury boxing match than he made in his entire MMA career beforehand.”

Ngannou’s remarks stoke the flames of the ongoing debate around UFC fighter compensation, which CEO Dana White has been strongly opposed to raising. It also raises questions about the promotion contracts, which have drawn criticism for being unfair and exploitative.

Insidesport

The PFL’s readiness to work with Ngannou to negotiate a contract that the Cameroonian believed would be more equitable was one of the reasons the fighter voluntarily left the UFC heavyweight belt in search of better opportunities in a smaller organization. Regrettably, he is not the first individual to clash with the UFC.

The UFC and its elite athletes sometimes have contract disagreements, but Ngannou is one of the only fighters to successfully turn down a historically wealthy offer from the company in favor of another, finally obtaining what he wanted elsewhere.

It remains to be seen if Ngannou continues to pursue boxing matches, but as of right moment, the former UFC heavyweight champion’s options are endless.
