The French manager sat for an interview with Le Parisien, where he explained Benzema’s injury situation. Deschamps then added that due to a personal training program the striker, his full training was pushed back. Due to this, the manager wasn’t expecting him for the game against Australia, unlike Raphael Varane.
He said, “In every situation, there is only one truth and Karim knows that. He joined us on November 14 after a period of semi-inactivity with his club.”
According to Deschamps, when Karim sustained the injury then the team doctor went to Aspetar clinic to undergo an MRI scan. Karim then showed those reports to someone who follows him [medically] at Real Madrid, who also gave him an opinion.
Deschamps then mentioned that he went to visit him in the hotel, along with the doctor. In the interview, he said, “We stayed together about twenty minutes. As I was leaving I told him: ‘Karim, there’s no rush, you can organise your return with the Team Manager’. When I woke up, I found out he had left. That’s his decision, he won’t say otherwise, I understand and respect it.”
