Australian GP: Lewis Hamilton’s car PASSED extensive INSPECTION by Stewards after the race in Saudi Arabia GP: Lewis Hamilton’s W13 challenger was selected by FIA for ‘extensive physical inspection’ at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The FIA document read, “After the race, car number 44, Hamilton was randomly chosen among the top 10 cars for more extensive physical inspections. Subject to these physical inspections were all front inboard suspension components. All inspected components were found to be in compliance with the 2022 Formula 1 Technical Regulations.”

All cars will be checked after the race. But this year the FIA is conducting more thorough testing on one car at each Grand Prix. This is a random choice and the only criterion is that the car must finish in the top 10.

Lewis Hamilton did just exactly what was needed as he finished tenth. Hamilton had started the race in the fifteenth position and managed to finish the race in the tenth spot. His car was called for wider inspection. The FIA revealed that it complies with this year’s new technical regulations.
Mercedes will be competing in the Australian Grand Prix this weekend. They are fully aware that they will not suddenly fight to win the race. Their W13 challenger has faced extreme Porpoising issues and they are yet to find a cure for it.

Mercedes’ head of trackside engineering Andrew Shovlin recently admitted that the problem was huge. They don’t know if this year’s car is fast or not as they are not able to run it the way they wanted. Thus, the team has been forced to increase the ride height to minimize the Porpoising effect.

Andrew Shovlin said, “That’s probably priority number one. Because that’s ultimately preventing us from running the car where we’d like to run it for optimum performance. What we don’t know is, if we could just magically make that issue vanish. Where would we actually be in terms of car pace, is the car fast enough or not? And it’s very difficult to answer that question.”
Despite all the problems, Mercedes are still second in the Constructors standings with 38 points to their name. They trail Ferrari by 40 points and Mercedes have a one-point advantage over arch-rivals Red Bull.
