Ashes Day 4 Summary: England Batting Collapse, Australia Wins Gabba Test: The Aussies started Day 4 of the Ashes 1st Test on a great note. In the first 30 mins of the play itself, both overnight batsman Dawid Malan & captain Joe Root were sent back to the pavilion. Nathan Lyon got his wicket no. 4OOth as he got Malan out to end 162 Runs partnership

Root was dismissed for 89 while Malan went out for 82. Root picked 4 wickets for 91 runs in 32 overs. Captain Pat Cummins & Cameron Green chipped in with 2 each.

Joe Root, England captain said: “Frustration I think, we worked really hard to get back in the game last night and we knew that if we got through the new-ball unscathed and carried that partnership forward, we would really give ourselves a good opportunity to go on and post some sort of total which would’ve kept us in the game – but we were done by Aussie bowling & the pitch”
