Ashes 2021 LIVE: Bad news for Australia, David Warner DOUBTFUL after a severe rib injury
- Nathan Lyon is among the few spinners to take 400 wickets. Others on the list are- Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warner, Anil Kumble, Rangana Herath, R Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh.
- He achieved the landmark in 101st Test. The 34-year-old will look to add at least 100 more wickets to his tally with a few years of cricket still left in him.
- Muttiah Muralitharan was the fastest to reach 400 Test wickets. He had achieved the landmark in just 72 matches.

Nathan Lyon achieved the milestone after getting the big wicket of Dawid Malan (82) in his second over of the Day 4. With the wicket, he also broke the 162-run third wicket partnership between him and Joe Root which led to a major batting collapse for England.
Lyon, who went wicketless in the first innings, scalped four wickets in the second innings to register figures of 34-5-91-4.
Talking about the feat, Nathan Lyon said that, “It’s been a long time coming, I dare say. It’s pretty amazing to get the breakthrough and start off a fantastic morning session. So pretty stoked with it,” Lyon said on almost an 11-month wait. The 34-year-old was stuck on 399 Test scalps since January 19, 2021 when India won the Brisbane Test and defeated Australia 2-1 in a 4-match Test series.
