The 44-year-old, who earned seven national team playing caps, served as the nation’s Under-20 team manager and assistant coach until taking over as head coach of the senior squad in 2018.

After serving as caretaker manager for a while, Scaloni was initially opposed to being given the full-time position, but he ended the team’s 28-year trophy drought by guiding them to the 2021 Copa America, which was held a year before the World Cup.
