Another headache for BCCI ahead of WC as fire breaks out at Eden Gardens

In another headache for the BCCI ahead of ICC ODI World Cup 2023, fire broke out at Eden Gardens on late Wednesday night.

Late on Wednesday night, a fire started in the dressing room at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens. The incident occurred during renovations before to the World Cup 2023, which will begin on October 5.

The first people to notice the fire were those who were employed there. After receiving immediate notification, the fire department quickly dispatched two engines to contain the situation.

According to reports, the fire started in the false ceiling of the changing area, where the cricket players’ equipment was housed. All of the players’ possessions were burned, despite the fact that the damage was not severe.

At first, a short circuit was thought to be the source of the fire. With fewer than two months till the 2018 World Cup, the tragedy called into doubt the infrastructure of the Eden Gardens.

The sudden fire’s origin is being looked into. Remodeling work is progressing quickly as the World Cup approaches. The refurbishment of the Eden Gardens is scheduled to be finished on September 15.

The ICC representatives have said they are happy with how the work is going so far and will return for another inspection the following month. However, the most recent setback indicated brand-new issues.

Before the World Cup, CAB cannot afford to make any more management mistakes. After hearing that a fire had started at the Eden Gardens, Joint Secretary Debabrata Das hurried to the location. He promised that the incident would be investigated to see if any negligence occurred.
