We try and stay away from it: Ben Stokes on term ‘Bazball’

England's Test skipper Ben Stokes has revealed that the side tries to stay away from the phrase 'Bazball' and the hype around it.

The term ‘Bazball’ hogged all the hype in the cricketing world last year and has now successfully managed to grab Indian eyeballs with England cricket team’s stunning win in the IND vs ENG 1st Test in Hyderabad.

However, England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes has revealed that the side tries to stay away from the phrase and the hype around it.

“It’s a phrase that was created by the media. Something that we try and stay away from”, Stokes said in an interview with JioCinema.

The England all-rounder also revealed that head coach Brendon McCullum, the inspiration behind the term “Bazball” derived from his nickname ‘Baz’, hates the phrase.

“It just came from what we have managed to do over the last two years and how we’ve played. We don’t necessarily like it, Baz (coach Brendon McCullum) hates it! Whenever that word pops up, we just try to say that’s how England plays Test cricket”, the England skipper further added.

The English side, who last won a Test series on Indian soil in 2012, will look to extend their lead when they face the hosts in Visakhapatnam for the second Test, starting on February 2.
