As per the latest report, the real reason of Ryan Ten Doeschate wanting to leave Team India could be, lack of clarity in role.

Even though there has been no formal announcement about the same, but India assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate looks all set to leave the team, by the end of the India vs England ODIs on July 19. Many reports suggest that he may be taking this decision to spend more time with his young family. But then, as per a report in the Times of India, the reason could be something else. The ex Netherlands all-rounder could be leaving, as his position as the fielding coach could never materialise.

Real reason for Ryan Ten Doeschate’s departure revealed

It seems that Ryan Ten Doeschate was eventually promised the role of the Indian fielding coach, when he joined in 2024, on the recommendation of Gautam Gambhir. But T Dilip’s extension in that very role, after the Champions Trophy 2025, has left the 46-year-old without any clearly defined role.

It is interesting to note, that during his stint with the KKR two years back, he was the fielding coach, while with the Indian team, he is labeled as the assistant coach. The report further states that T Dilip was to leave the Indian team alongside Abhishek Nayar, but stayed on due to a recommendation by a senior India player.

Wanted to take up fielding coach role

“For Dilip, a strong recommendation came from a senior player, and he got one year extension; and Tendo actually didn’t have any specific domain role. He is a fantastic coach, who hasn’t been used because Dilip is there,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying. In fact, there could be no looking back for Ten Doeschate, who might move back to the IPL, and is already in talks with a franchise. Now it remains to be seen, if Dilip stays on or not. About his future, there too have been multiple contrasting reports. Some suggest he is all likely to go, while others claim, that he will stay on for sure.
