Cricket Ireland (CI), after consultations with Sony Sports, media rights holder for the India vs Ireland series in India, has decided upon an earlier start for the two T20Is in Belfast. Initially, the matches were to commence at 1:30 PM local time (7 PM IST), but due to the India vs Australia match in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, CI has decided to start the game an hour early.
India vs Ireland match timings changed
The first T20I, on June 26, won’t clash with the premier women’s tournament. However, the second game, on June 28, will see the reigning Women’s ODI World Cup champions take on the 6-time Women’s T20 World Cup champions at Lord’s from 7 PM IST onwards.
In normal circumstances, the Indian broadcasters would prefer a 7 PM IST start. However, due to this scenario, CI and Sony Sports are willing to start earlier. Although the two matches will still coincide, it will benefit Sony Sports and JioHotstar, the media rights holder for the Women’s T20 World Cup in India, equally.
India vs Ireland T20I series schedule
| Match | Date | Venue | Updated Time (IST) |

| 2nd T20I | June 28 | Belfast, Northern Ireland | 6 PM |
Ireland follows England’s route
Earlier in the month, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had similarly decided to start evening matches earlier than scheduled. The move was made to cater to Indian viewers and broadcasters. In the last few years, the ECB’s revenue and profit have been dependent on hosting India, so it was decided to start the games an hour earlier.
