There won’t be any celebrations for RCB after winning the IPL 2026 trophy, as Rajat Patidar dedicated their victory to the victims of the Bengaluru stampede. After the final against GT, an RCB player has been handed a 1-match ban. Meanwhile, GT players were stuck in the middle of nowhere after their bus caught fire. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has a plan for ODI cricket, and the ICC has made several changes to the playing conditions.

No victory parade for RCB

In the aftermath of the fatal stampede during RCB’s celebrations after winning the IPL 2025 trophy, the franchise won’t hold another victory parade after successfully defending their title. Furthermore, DK Shivakumar will take the oath as Karnataka’s chief minister on June 3, an event that will draw a massive crowd around the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

IPL bans Tim David

Tim David has been handed a 1-match IPL ban after breaching the code of conduct. The RCB batter threw an ice bag in the direction of on-field umpire Nitin Menon during the final against GT after the third umpire overturned Jordan Cox’s catch from valid to invalid. This was the third Level 1 offence for David in IPL 2026.

GT players stranded

Dejected after losing the IPL 2026, GT players were forced to sit on the roadside while on their way back to the team hotel. A small fire broke out on the bus due to an electrical fault. The entire team was stranded on the roadside for nearly an hour before alternative arrangements were made. Luckily, no one got injured.

Rajat Patidar dedicates to stampede victim

After clinching back-to-back IPL trophies, RCB captain Rajat Patidar dedicated their win to the 11 individuals and their families who lost their lives during the Bengaluru stampede that occurred during RCB’s celebrations last year. Patidar also stated they wish to do a three-peat of IPL titles.

Women’s World Cup in Pakistan

After the ICC’s board meeting in Ahmedabad, the board has announced several changes. The pink ball can be used mid-Test from now on. Support staff can enter the field during the drinks break in T20Is. The window for the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 has been changed. The host and the qualification pathway for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028 are confirmed. Cricket Canada has been suspended, but players can play.

‘New’ Sooryavanshi in ODIs

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi won’t bring the same brand of attacking cricket from IPL 2026 to ODIs for India A. Speaking after winning the MVP award and Orange Cap, the 15-year-old told Sunil Gavaskar and Harbhajan Singh that he’ll be hitting more shots along the ground in Sri Lanka.
