With a jam-packed international cricketing calendar ahead, Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka have reportedly agreed to participate in a tri-nation series. The tri-series will be played in ODI format in October-November this year. An official communication on the same is still awaited. This update comes as the teams prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup, set to be held in October-November 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The venues for the series are under discussion. After mutual consultation, the schedule will be announced in the days to come. Meanwhile, a source close to the developments was quoted as saying in The Pioneer, “The PCB is likely to hold matches at just two venues, Lahore and Karachi, but dates and venues would be finalised soon.”
England last featured in the ODI series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka, winning against the Lankans by a 2-1 margin and going down against the Kiwis by 0-3. Pakistan last played South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in 2025-26. While they registered wins against South Africa (2-1 margin) and Sri Lanka (3-0 margin), they went down by a 1-2 margin against Bangladesh. However, Sri Lanka haven’t been in power in ODIs as they were whitewashed by Pakistan and went down 1-2 against England.
