A Pakistani cricketer is under investigation for using drugs during the T20 World Cup 2026. A famous footballer has invested in The Hundred, which will face competition from the Lanka Premier League (LPL) this year. Jacob Bethell has been urged to leave Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and return to England. A Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder has travelled back to Australia. Lastly, what’s MS Dhoni’s current fitness status?

MS Dhoni injury update
MS Dhoni trained for about an hour, two days before the match between MI and CSK. He faced Matt Henry and Jamie Overton for 30 minutes and spent the remainder of the time keeping wickets. Dhoni’s participation in the match will be determined by his readiness. The CSK management has decided that the final decision will be made by Dhoni and the physio.

Connolly returns home
Cooper Connolly has travelled to Australia for a fitness clearance to bowl. The all-rounder wasn’t permitted to bowl in the IPL due to a back problem. He was expected to recover by the end of April, meaning PBKS could only play him as a batter in 8 matches. However, it seems he might be allowed to bowl after just 6 matches.

Jude Bellingham enters cricket
Footballer Jude Bellingham, who plays for Real Madrid and England, has acquired a 1.20% stake in The Hundred franchise Birmingham Phoenix. The deal is valued at around £1 million (INR 12.65 crore). Knighthead Capital, owners of Birmingham City, for whom Bellingham played from 2019 to 2020, have a 48.40% stake in the franchise.

Pakistan cricketer caught using drugs
The PCB is investigating Mohammad Nawaz. The Pakistani all-rounder has tested positive for using recreational drugs during the T20 World Cup. As a result, he’ll lose his contract with Surrey for the T20 Blast. Nawaz featured in all eight matches for the ICC tournament, taking seven wickets as Pakistan bowed out of the Super 8 stage.

Bethell should leave RCB?
Former England cricketer Alastair Cook doesn’t think that Jacob Bethell warming the bench for RCB in the IPL is the right way to go. He believes that Bethell could’ve spent this time honing his red-ball skills in the County Championship and preparing for the upcoming New Zealand Test series in June.

LPL vs The Hundred
LPL will clash with The Hundred in 2026. The Sri Lankan franchise league was originally slated for November-December in 2025, but was postponed for T20 World Cup preparations. Now, it’ll be played in July-August, directly clashing with England’s league. This will affect both, since top players will be divided among the two leagues.
