Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be relieved. Rishabh Pant, who retired hurt in the fourth over of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) vs LSG match, returned to bat at the backend of the first innings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Rishabh Pant returns after retiring hurt
After the LSG captain entered the middle, RCB captain Rajat Patidar brought Josh Hazlewood back for his second over. Facing his third ball, Pant had sustained a blow to his left elbow. The visuals weren’t great, as he winced in pain and decided to walk off the field after having a quick word with LSG physio Patrick Farhart.
The tall Aussie had hit the perfect lengths from the get-go. He started with a short of a length ball outside off, which the LSG captain tried to slog across the line but missed. The second one was on the middle stump and struck Pant on the body.
The third one was pretty much identical to the second one. Pant once again went for the slog. This time, it hit his left elbow. He denied being single and immediately looked in pain. The physio was out in a jiffy and applied the magic spray. But it had no impact. Pant decided to walk off.
Hazlewood walked towards Pant as he was walking off to enquire whether he was fine. Nicholas Pooran, the next man in, also asked Pant if he was fine. It was clear from his facial expressions that he was in immense pain.
Injuries plaguing IPL 2026
Although Pant returned to bat, we don’t know how his elbow is. He might still be feeling discomfort and could be advised to rest. In the same RCB vs LSG match, Virat Kohli is already playing as the impact sub for the first time in his career. Rohit Sharma has suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to miss the Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians match on April 16.
Then, there is MS Dhoni, who hasn’t played a match for the Chennai Super Kings. He’s missed 5 matches and won’t feature in the 6th game either. That’s four of the biggest IPL stars dealing with injuries.
