The toil and hard work that Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav put in for almost two years have finally paid off. The Men in Blue have continued their juggernaut to become the first team to defend their T20 World Cup crown. In front of a jam-packed Narendra Modi Stadium crowd, Suryakumar and his men outmuscled New Zealand to cap off what was a thrilling T20 World Cup.
Sanju Samson continued his amazing run of form to take India to 255/5, a total that was unheard of in an ICC final. It more than what India scored during the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia. The bowling was a formality, with Jasprit Bumrah doing his routine work of dismantling opposition with ease. He won the Man of the Match, while Samson bagged the Player of the Tournament award.
