SKY couldn't help but lavish praise on Bumrah following the mammoth win, with the pacer playing a crucial part in helping India secure their 2nd consecutive title.

India cricket team bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been labelled as a ‘once in a generation’ player and a ‘national treasure by captain Suryakumar Yadav after the T20 World Cup 2026 final. The premium pacer finished with figures of 4/15 against New Zealand on Sunday, the best for any fast bowler in a T20 WC final. SKY couldn’t help but lavish praise on Bumrah following the mammoth win, with the pacer playing a crucial part in helping the Men in Blue secure their second consecutive title.

‘Jasprit Bumrah a national treasure’

Speaking at the post-match presentation, SKY dubbed Bumrah as a national treasure who knew how he had to get the job done in crucial matches. He said that the pacer was the best in the business and that he was a once in a generation bowler.

“I think it was very, very special. That’s what I said, like how Sanju said in the last game he wanted to give his Man of the Match to Jasprit Bumrah. He is a once in a generation bowler, I can call him as a national treasure right now. But he knows what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, the best in the business and hopefully keeps doing that,” Suryakumar said.

Prior to this game, Bumrah was behind Varun Chakravarthy on the list of leading wicket-takers in the T20 World Cup 2026. However, his four-wicket haul propelled him to the top of the list at the end of the final against NZ, making him the highest wicket-taker in the tournament by the virtue of having a better economy rate. Bumrah finished with 14 wickets to his name from 8 matches at an average of 12.43 and an economy rate of 6.21. Varun finished 2nd on the list of most wickets with 14 to his name from 9 games at an average of 20.50. He was quite expensive in the last four games after having an impressive run in the league stage of the tournament.
