IND vs NZ, final: Jimmy Neesham picked up three key wickets in the 16th over, and gave away only one run.

Ahmedabad witnessed absolute carnage by India top 3 in the T20 World Cup final on Sunday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The team reached 200 in only 15 overs, courtesy of 89 from 46 by Sanju Samson, 52 from 21 by Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan’s 54 from 25.

But there was a bit of change of script, which came as a big surprise to the 132,000-strong crowd at the venue. In the 16th over of the innings, where Sanju and Ishan were set, Jimmy Neesham came up with a triple-wicket over, conceding only one run. Sanju was caught out well by McConchie, Ishan was caught by Chapman, and skipper Suryakumar Yadav was caught on the midwicket boundary by Rachin.

That also marked a period, where India did not get a boundary for a whopping 16 deliveries, indicating a shift in momentum. From there on, India never really got going and once a score that looked like 280, was 255 in the end. There was also an indication that the pitch was gripping, if bowled slow and accurately.

In that period, 7 slower balls were bowled, and none of them was taken for a boundary. In the end still, Kiwi bowlers gave away a ton of runs, not ideal on the night of the final. Matt Henry ended with figures of 1/49 in his 4 overs, Jacob Duffy gave 42 in three, Ferguson 48 in two overs, and Rachin Ravindra 32 in 2 overs.

Meanwhile, hats off to Shivam Dube, who went on to score a massive 26 from 8 deliveries. His innings uplifted the team, when the batters were struggling to get boundaries.
