India cricket team batter Shivam Dube has created an unwanted record in T20 World Cups, which equals his former CSK captain MS Dhoni. The Team India all-rounder was run out for a well-played 43-run knock even as MSD watched on from the stands at the Wankhede Stadium during the T20 World Cup 2025 semi-final between India and England on Thursday. Dube has been been the most consistent player for India thus far in the marquee tournament, scoring effectively in each and every game.

Coming in to bat above Hardik Pandya at number 5, Dube managed to score 43 runs off 25 deliveries before he was run-out by England skipper Harry Brook. He managed to score four sixes and one four, boasting of a strike rate of 172 before he was forced to walk back to the pavilion. Dube registered an unwanted record as he became the second batter to be dismissed run-out thrice in a T20 WC edition, after MS Dhoni in 2007.

Dhoni is at the Wankhede stadium to see if India can beat England to make it to their second consecutive final of the T20 World Cup. The co-hosts have been asked to bat first in the contest after Harry Brook won the toss and opted to bowl first in the contest in Mumbai.

India have set a mammoth 254-run target for England in the semifinal. Sanju Samson played another special knock of 89 off 42 as India posted 253/7. Sivam Dube, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya all contributed to the total after India lost Abhishek Sharma cheaply again. Earlier, England opted to bowl. England have made one change, dropping Rehan Ahmed for Jamie Overton. The winner will take on New Zealand in the final on Sunday.
