Sharma has been under-confident since the start of T20 WC 2026 and it has once again been shown with knock in the semi-final against England

Abhishek Sharma registered his fourth single-digit score in the ongoing T20 World Cup as he was dismissed cheaply in the semi-final against England. The explosive opener has been out of form since the start of the marquee tournament and has hardly managed to go all guns blazing at the top of the order. Sharma has been under-confident since the start of T20 WC 2026 and it has once again been shown with knock in the semi-final against England.

Abhishek Sharma flops again

Abhishek managed to score just 9 runs off 7 deliveries before he was caught out by Phil Salt off Will Jacks. The Indian opener tried to go for a big shot but was caught out instead. Abhishek, so far in the tournament, has registered scores of 0, 0, 0, 15, 55 and 10. England have opted to bowl first in the T20 Word Cup semi-final 2 vs India on Thursday.

The explosive opener has not been in good touch in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 and hasn’t played any big knocks apart from a half-century against Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, in his absence, Sanju Samson has done we, including a match-winning knock of 97 runs against West Indies. Given Sharma’s continuous failures, he could have been replaced with Rinku Singh in the playing XI, who could have bolstered the lower order while Ishan Kishan batter at the the top with Sanju Samson. However, that was not the case.
