South Africa cricket team will have a tough time in adapting to the conditions at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata as they are all set to play outside of Delhi and Ahmedabad for the first time in this T20 World Cup 2026. The Proteas have stayed unbeaten so far in the marquee event and will be looking to extend that run and make it to the second consecutive T20 WC final with a win over the Kiwis. After resting a host of their major players in their previous fixture against Zimbabwe, SA are expected to field a full-strength side which will see the return of Rabada, Jansen and Maharaj to the playing XI.
Predicted South Africa playing XI vs NZ
Aiden Markram (C), Quinton de Kock (WK), Ryan Rickleton, Dewald Brevis, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi
On Bench: George Linde, Jason Smith, Kwena Mapakha, Anrich Nortje
No changes are expected to be made in terms of South Africa’s batting line-up for the game against New Zealand. However, there are bound to bring back Jansen, Rabada, and Maharaj who were rested in the previous game. Aiden Markram will be key to the Proteas’ success in the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final while the team will be hoping that Quinton de Kock gets going in the contest. After all, he is quite familiar with the conditions while playing in India. The onus will also be on Rickleton and Brevis to switch gears and go all guns blazing. After all, the previous contest at the venue between India and West Indies was a run-fest.
In terms of bowling, pacers will play a major role in the game, with Jansen, Rabada, Ngidi and Bosch expected to unleash a barrage on the New Zealand batters. Maharaj will remain the lone specialist spinner in the side. Don’t forget, SA’s biggest strength in this contest, and throughout the T20 WC so far, has been their batting depth, with the ability of the likes of Jansen, who bats at number 7 being able to effectively contrribute.
