Abhishek Sharma will need to find runs sooner rather than later.

A total of 100 players have batted at least 4 times in this T20 World Cup 2026. Only four of them have scored fewer runs than Abhishek Sharma. Those four are Jofra Archer, Liam Dawson, Muhammad Arfan and Jiten Ramanandi, all of whom are specialist bowlers. Yet, Abhishek continues to be the World No. 1 ranked T20I batter. The top ten list includes four Indians, yet the Men in Blue batters haven’t hit their straps like they should have.

Abhishek has opened up a healthy 62-point lead over England’s Phil Salt at the top of the rankings. Meanwhile, Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan, currently the leading run-scorer in the T20 World Cup, has climbed two spots to move into third place, achieving a career-best rating in the process.

There has been plenty of movement inside the top 10 as well. Ishan Kishan has risen three places to fifth, while South Africa’s Dewald Brevis has made a big leap, jumping 10 spots to break into ninth. Just outside the top bracket, Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran has moved up four places to 13th, West Indies captain Shai Hope has climbed to 14th, and England skipper Harry Brook has surged 10 positions to reach 18th after his match-winning maiden T20I hundred against Pakistan.
