New Zealand cricket team will take on T20 World Cup co-hosts Sri Lanka in their second Super 8 fixture at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo on Wednesday. Mitchell Santner and co. will be itching to get a game especially after their previous tie against Pakistan was washed out, leading to both teams getting a point each. A win on Wednesday against a struggling SL will pretty much mean that the latter are out of the tournament while NZ will take a step closer to making it to the semi-final.
Predicted New Zealand Playing XI vs Sri Lanka
Tim Seifert (wk), Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner (c), Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Ish Sodhi
Bench: Cole McConchie, James Neesham, Kyle Jamieson, Devon Conway
Captain Santner has confirmed that there are no injury concerns in the New Zealand camp and that all 15 players are availavble for selection. No changes are expected to be made in the batting order, with Seifert and Allen set to open the innings while Ravindra bats at number three.
In terms of bowling, spin is expected to play an instrumental role at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This means Ish Sodhi is likely to partner with captain Santner to wreak havoc on the Sri Lankan batters.
Considering New Zealand is playing at the R. Premadasa Stadium, spin will come into the game. In the group stage, they played just one frontline spinner in Santner. But Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra have both bowled regularly in the tournament, and even Mark Chapman can roll his arm.
The pace department will be spearheaded by veteran Lockie Ferguson and will comprise of Matt Henry and Duffy.
