Australia cricket team star Adam Zampa made no attempts to hide his disappointment despite his heroics in the game against Oman on Friday. Mitchell Marsh and co. clinched a consolation win by thrashing Oman in their final T20 World Cup 2026 league stage game. However, the Aussies are pretty disappointed with the fact that they have been knocked out of the tournament in the group stage itself.
‘Couldn’t get it done when it mattered’
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Zampa revealed that he wasn’t ready to fly home yet and that the team felt pretty flat about their T20 World Cup campaign ending so soon. The spinner, who was named the Player of the Match on Friday for his 4/21 spell, finished the tournament with just 8 wickets to his name. Zampa was quite expensive and went wicketless in the games against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka – both of which Australia lost. The spinner bemoaned that he could not get the job done when it mattered the most.
“It has been a rough few days. Few quiet voices (in the dressing room). Feeling pretty flat about the World Cup ending so soon. We built something around the brand of cricket we felt would work. Unfortunately, it did not work for us. “It has been a rough few days. Few quiet voices (in the dressing room). Feeling pretty flat about the World Cup ending so soon. After starting off their T20 World Cup campaign on a high note with a 67-run win against Ireland, Australia suffered two back-to-back setbacks, which all but confirmed their exit from the tournament. First, they were handed a shocking 23-run defeat at the hands of Zimbabwe. They were then beaten by Sri Lanka by 8 wickets, which pretty much sealed their fate. The game between Ireland and Zimbabwe which was washed out was the final nail in the coffin.
