The United States of America (USA) have made a forced change to their squad for the T20 World Cup 2026. Fast bowler Jasdeep Singh has been ruled out of the tournament with a shoulder injury.
Injury trouble for USA
The 32-year-old pacer had sustained said injury against New Zealand during the warm-up match on February 5 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Jasdeep didn’t even bowl one delivery in that game and subsequently didn’t feature against India in the USA’s opening fixture of the T20 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium.
Ehsan Adil, who has previously represented Pakistan in international cricket, will join the squad as Jasdeep’s replacement. Ehsan hasn’t played a match for the USA yet and could make his debut against his home nation of Pakistan at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo tomorrow.
“The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has approved Ehsan Adil as a replacement for Jasdeep Singh in the USA squad. Adil, who has played three Tests and six ODIs for Pakistan but has not yet turned out for the USA, was named as a replacement after Singh was ruled out with an injury to his right shoulder that was sustained during the warm-up game against New Zealand on 5 February,” the ICC informed in a release.
Jasdeep isn’t the only USA fast bowler who has injury trouble. Ali Khan and Shubham Ranjane both got injured while playing against India. The former hurt himself while fielding, while the latter hurt himself during his over. They each bowl 2 overs before leaving the field and are in doubt for the USA vs Pakistan match.
