ENG U-19 qualify for Under 19 World Cup 2026 final
Having won the toss and batting first in the contest, England U-19 amassed 277/7 at the end of 50 overs. This was powered by a 110-run knock from captain Thomas Rew along with a 40-run knock from Caleb Falconer. Sizeable contributions from batters barring Ben Dawkins resulted in England finishing with a good total on board. Naden Cooray and Hayden Schiler managed to bag two wickets each, while Byrom, Aryan Sharma got a wicket each.
In response, Australia U-19 captain Oliver Peake led the fight back with a 100 off 88 balls, studded with 10 fours and 1 six. However, he waged a lone warrior battle as none apart from Nitesh Samuel (47) and Aryan Sharma (34) managed to get going with the bat. Sebastian Morgan, James Minto, Manny Lumsden, and Ralphie Albert finished with 2 wickets each to their names as Australia U-19 were bowled out for 250 runs in 47.3 overs. Peake waged a lone-warrior battle till the end as he was the final AUS U-19 batter to depart.
“Very disappointed with the result. I think sometimes you’re just outplayed, and that was one of those days where the English guys took it on with the bat,” Australia U-19 captain Peake said after the loss.
England U-19 have qualified for the final and will now meet the winner of India U-19 vs Afghanistan U-19 in semi-final 2.
