In what might come as a bit of a blow for Team India, all-rounder Washington Sundar isn’t fully fit as yet. As per a new update by journalist Abhishek Tripathi, even though he has shown good progress, but is yet to heal fully. On Monday, he underwent a spot-bowling session, where he bowled 4 overs.
Now, on Wednesday, he will undergo a similar session and then it will be seen, if his affected area is able to take the load. Post that a call on his rehab will be taken. That makes it pretty unclear if he would be available for the T20 World Cup, which is to start on Feb 7.
According to previous reports, the team management is ready to wait for Washington Sundar, and see if he could be available in the latter half of the tournament. He had sustained this injury during the IND vs NZ ODI series, and as a result of that could not play in the T20I series as well.
Ravi Bishnoi was called in as a replacement, and it will be interesting to see, if India do go ahead with him, in case Washi cannot be played at all. In two matches, Bishnoi had picked up three wickets, and had shown decent control on wickets that were excellent for batting.
Rishabh Pant fully fit?
Another Indian player, Rishabh Pant had sustained an injury during the NZ ODI series. He had suffered an internal oblique tear, and was replaced by Dhruv Jurel. But it seems, he has regained his fitness. The tweet suggests that he has been responding well to the rehab, without any discomfort. In fact, he would start batting and wicket-keeping by the end of the week.
