While the PCB will take a decision after consulting the government, a Plan B is also reportedly in place.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to take a final call on whether they will be featuring in the T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, as per reports. Although the tickets to Sri Lanka have been booked for Salman Ali Agha and co, the PCB has kept the cards close to its chest, keeping the suspense going. While the board will take a decision after consulting the government, a Plan B is also reportedly in place.

What will Pakistan do if they boycott T20 World Cup 2026?

As per Daily Ausaf, the PCB has a Plan B in place should Pakistan decide to not take part in the T20 World Cup 2026. The Pakistan team, Pakistan Shaheens and the country’s Under 19 sides will be divided into four teams and will play a local tournament in Lahore. The report states that the PCB is expected to announce its decision on traveling for the T20 WC on Sunday evening after consulting Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif. Additionally, the report also states that Pakistan will unveil their World Cup kit only after that.

Pakistan have threatened to skip the marquee tournament after Bangladesh was replaced with Scotland over their refusal to travel to India amid soaring tensions between both the countries. The PCB was supposed to unveil the country’s T20 World Cup kit earlier but cancelled it in the last moment, claiming a decision on whether to boycott the T20 WC was not yet taken. Then, on Saturday, the PCB mistakenly revealed that they are indeed traveling to Sri Lanka for the event as they issued a statement claiming that one of their pacers is being released from the squad in the series against Australia as he isn’t a part of Pakistan’s side for the World Cup.

Releasing the mistake, PCB deleted it from social media. But the deed was done. It proved reports correct, which were suggesting that Pakistan would land in Colombo on February 2 and play a warm-up match against Ireland at the Sinhalese Sports Club two days later.
