The competition’s intense. We are at the halfway mark of the sixth-round match of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy. With quarterfinal qualification on the line, all teams were locked in. Well, not all. Because one of the sixteen matches has already ended.
Parth Bhut dismisses Shubman Gill again
Parth Bhut has got Shubman Gill’s number. After dismissing the Indian Test captain for a 2-ball duck on the first day, the left-arm spinner got the better of the Punjab captain on the second day as well. The mode of dismissal was the same: leg before wicket. Harpreet Brar took another 5-wicket haul and ended with 11 wickets in the match, but Saurashtra won by 194 runs. Ravindra Jadeja was wicketless in the second innings but scored 46 valuable runs.
Sarfaraz Khan doubles up
After finishing the first day unbeaten on 142, Sarfaraz Khan continued to dominate Hyderabad bowlers on the second day as well. He brought up his double hundred and ended up scoring 227 from 219 balls. Mumbai were all out for 560 as Mohammed Siraj took just 1 wicket. In reply, Hyderabad are 138/2.
Kumar Kushagra tons up
After ending the first day on 279/1, Jharkhand piled on the pain on the second day as well. They declared on 561/6, with Kumar Kushagra scoring his 5th first-class hundred, making sure Jharkhand doesn’t feel Ishan Kishan’s absence. Tired Uttar Pradesh batters came out to bat and were reduced to just 32/3.
Padikkal & Nair fail
Table-toppers from Group B, Karnataka, are in all sorts against Madhya Pradesh. After dismissing MP for 323, Karnataka are 8 down and still trailing by 155 runs. Mayank Agarwal and Devdutt Padikkal both registered ducks, while Karun Nair departed for just 12. Karnataka might lose its top spot if MP beats them or Maharashtra wins over Goa.
