Adam Milne was recently signed by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for INR 2.40 crore in the IPL auction 2026.

New Zealand did the unthinkable when they scripted their maiden ODI series win over India in India recently. It was stunning since the Kiwis didn’t have regular stars, most of whom were injured or on precautionary measures. One of the players who was kept out of the IND vs NZ series but was part of the T20 World Cup 2026 was Adam Milne. However, the star pacer has now been ruled out of the tournament, as confirmed by New Zealand head coach Rob Walter. Kyle Jamieson, who has been mightily impressive in the ongoing white-ball series against India, has replaced Milne.

New Zealand bring in Kyle Jamieson

“We’re all gutted for Adam. He’d worked so hard to get himself ready for the tournament and was looking back to his best in his eight games for the Eastern Cape Sunrisers. It’s unfortunate timing for Adam, and we wish him a speedy recovery.” Kiwi coach Rob Walter said.

“It’s great that Kyle is already with us here in India. He’s an integral member of our pace-bowling group and has hit the ground running on this tour. He’s a hard worker with a good set of skills and experiences that will hold him good stead for the tournament.”

Adam Milne was supposed to a main weapon for New Zealand at the T20 World Cup. Since 2025, he has played 41 T20 games and mustered 46 wickets at an economy of 7.93. He played the SA20 2026 for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape and took 11 wickets at an economy of 7.62. Meanwhile, Jamieson has looked superb in the white-ball series. He caused trouble in the ODIs, making it seam with the new ball. Jamieson took 6 wickets, including a four-fer in the opening ODI. He even played the first T20I in Nagpur and got two wickets.
