While there was uncertainty over Bangladesh's participation in the T20 World Cup 2026, the BCCI has assured that there would be no issues.

For some time now, the political tensions between India and Bangladesh are on the rise. And as usual, sporting activities are affected by it too. First the men’s bilateral series between IND & BAN was postponed in August 2025, and then the women’s series in December 2025 was deferred. Instead, Harmanpreet Kaur & Co played against Sri Lanka.

Team Bangladesh will get visas for T20 World Cup 2026

There were also speculations, if Bangladesh would play/or be allowed to play in India; the T20 World Cup 2026 is being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from Feb 7. But in an exclusive interaction with InsideSport, a senior BCCI official has confirmed that no issue would arise in Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup and are in touch with government for the same.

The source also went on to reveal that while the visas for the players and the support staff would be granted, the fans and journalists should not be that hopeful. “The Bangladesh team and their coaching staff will get their visa. We are in touch with the government for the swift issuance of visas for the T20 World Cup,” the BCCI official told InsideSport.

“However, Bangladeshi fans and journalists might find it difficult to secure Indian visas, unlike the players. The BCCI is also trying to solve the visa issue at the earliest but at the moment, it is unlikely.”

Added security for visiting team

As far as the security of the Bangladeshi players go, the official assured that there won’t be any issues faced by the team. In fact, it would match the standards of what the Pakistani team got, when they came to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. “We are a welcoming nation and there won’t be any security issues. Security will be tight for them, like how the Pakistan team got in the last World Cup.”
