The T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to start from Feb 6 in India and Sri Lanka.

The T20 World Cup is only a few days away and the question has started, if India will be able to defend the trophy? The tournament will be jointly held by India and Sri Lanka, and the conditions will certainly favour Suryakumar Yadav and co. Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh too put a stamp on it, but issued a bit of a warning as well.

Harbhajan Singh gives verdict for T20 World Cup

“I think India has a very good chance of winning the T20 World Cup. They are a strong team and will enjoy home advantage. They know the conditions better than anyone else,” Harbhajan said on the sidelines of the Legends 90 League Season 4 launch. “However, handling World Cup pressure better than the others will be the most important factor.”

The spinner also warned the team against complacency. With that he added, that South Africa are strong contenders too. “Australia are always a very good side and top contenders in any tournament. South Africa are also strong contenders given their current form — they’ve played some outstanding cricket of late,” he said.

“Afghanistan are another very strong team, especially with their spinners. In these conditions, they can beat anyone. So these are my four picks for the semi-finals,” added the veteran spinner.

India squad for T20 World Cup: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Rinku Singh.
