The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed displeasure over Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha’s omission from the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) promotional poster for the ticket sales of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup.

The post featured only five of the twenty captains — Suryakumar Yadav (India), Aiden Markram (South Africa), Mitchell Marsh (Australia), Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka), and Harry Brook (England).
PCB’s strange ICC protest
According to PTI, the PCB has taken up the issue with ICC and believes corrections will be made in the upcoming posters and campaigns by the ICC for the T20 World Cup. While the PCB understands that Pakistan isn’t among the top-ranked teams in T20Is at the moment, they believe Pakistan has a rich legacy and remains one of the top draws.
PCB also pointed out that the same was done by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in the 2025 Asia Cup. However, this point seems rather weak considering that the current ACC President is none other than PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi.
“We faced the same issues when the Asia Cup was held a few months back, and that time the broadcasters had started a promotional campaign without our captain featuring in it. We are facing a similar situation this time, as the ICC has not projected our captain on the promotional poster for ticket sales,” a PCB source told PTI.
PCB’s contention about Salman’s snub doesn’t hit right either. Barring Shanaka, the four other captains who feature on the ICC poster lead the highest-ranked teams. Shanaka’s only present because Sri Lanka is co-hosting the T20 World Cup with India.
If someone should have an issue, it should be New Zealand Cricket (NZC). Despite being ranked fourth, Mitchell Santner hasn’t been included. Of course, New Zealand’s omission also makes sense since Sri Lanka is one of the host nations. All of this seems like a non-issue, and for some reason, PCB is wasting time over it.
