Injury-prone England pacer ruled out of AUS vs ENG 2nd Ashes Test

England cricket team have suffered a blow as Mark Wood has been ruled out of the 2nd Ashes Test in Brisbane. The fast-bowler had complained of a tight left hamstring during the warm-up game against England Lions before the 1st Test in Perth but was subsequently cleared of any concerns. However, Wood after his participation in the 1st Test, Wood has been ruled out of the pink-ball contest at The Gabba.

No Mark Wood in Ashes 2nd Test

As per reports, Wood missed the first training session in Brisbane and is now confirmed to miss the AUS vs ENG 2nd Ashes Test in Brisbane. The day-night Test is scheduled to be held between December 4-8 at the Gabba. It is pertinent to point out that England have decided to allow only three players from their squad to take part in the warm-up game againsst Australia PM’s XI – all three of them who were benched in the 1st Test in Perth.

 Ben Stokes and co. were handed a 8-wicket thrashing in the AUS vs ENG 1st Test in Perth, with Mitchell Starc and Travis Head decimating the visitors in what was a two-day contest.England last played a day-night Test way back in 2023 against England where they emerged victorious by 267 runs against New Zealand. The visitors had their fair share of struggles in the Ashes 1st Test, with majority of their batters struggling against the Australian bowlers. While Zak Crawley registered consecutive ducks in the game, veteran Joe Root’s poor run in Australia ensued.
