IPL 2026 trade talks is throwing something new at the fans everyday. Now, it seems the CSK-RR deal is almost finalised, and all the formalities for Sanju Samson going to Chennai, and Ravindra Jadeja to Rajasthan, would be completed in two days time. Just a few days back, the news had circulated, that KKR were interested in getting KL Rahul from DC, but it soon died out.
Aaron Finch floats IPL trade idea to KKR
Now, former Australia skipper Aaron Finch is of the opinion that KKR should be brave and trade all-rounder Andre Russell. This has come just days before the IPL 2026 retention deadline on November 15. Having said that, Finch was quick to admit, that KKR won’t really do that, given his prowess with the bat and the ball.
“Contentious one. Fold. But I think you could get a great trade. But we know that they are not going to do it. They will never release Dre Russ,” Finch said on Star Sports. MEanwhile, Russell wasn’t really at his best in IPL 2025, where he could only score 167 runs, and picked up 8 wickets.
Wants Kolkata to benefit from Andre Russell
Plus, he happens to be the sort of player, who would be hard to replace for the franchise. Further Finch also spoke about the possibility of KKR getting rid of Venkatesh Iyer and Quinton de Kock, ahead of IPL 2026 auction. As far as KKR’s performance in this year’s tournament is concerned, they were rather poor, and finished eight with just five wins under their belt.
Before the start of the season, they let their title-winning skipper, Shreyas Iyer go. They made Ajinkya Rahane the skipper, and Venkatesh Iyer the VC, who was bought for a massive 23.75 Cr. Their entire team-balance looked off, and lost seven matches.
