The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced their ‘Player of the Month’ nominees for September 2025. India’s Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav have been shortlisted after incredible performances in the 2025 Asia Cup. Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett has also found himself in the 3-named list.
Abhishek didn’t just make an impact with the number of runs he scored in India’s title run, but the rate at which he scored was astronomical. Only two batters scored over 100 runs in the Asia Cup at a strike rate of over 150. Mohammad Nabi had scored 108 runs at 171.42, while Abhishek made 314 runs at 200.

Kuldeep was by far the best bowler in the Asia Cup. Varun Chakaravarthy was India’s second-best bowler in the tournament, and he took just 7 wickets. Apart from Kuldeep, only Shaheen Shah Afridi took 10 wickets in the event. That’s how big the disparity was. Saim Ayub, who took 8 wickets, had the most wickets for any spinner after Kuldeep.

Bennett is one of the best up-and-coming talents in the cricketing world. At 21, he’s already played 66 matches for Zimbabwe. In September, he scored fifties against Sri Lanka, Uganda, Namibia, and Botswana. Bennett also struck a hundred against Tanzania in the 2026 T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier.
